Cost transparency

Know exactly what you pay for

Metered compute, included allowances, and no separate idle cluster charge. The meter is a formula you can audit.

DFCU = (wall_clock_seconds × cores) / 3600

1 DFCU = 1 core-hour of actual compute. The formula is transparent and auditable.

Pay for query execution only

DFCU meters only query wall-clock seconds. The gap between queries is not metered, so DeltaForge bills nothing while a registered node sits idle.

Self-hosted, one bill

Compute nodes run on your own infrastructure under your control. DeltaForge does not provision them, mark up your cloud bill, or stack a managed-cluster fee on top of the host you are already paying for.

DeltaForge meters: 8 seconds of DFCU. The host infrastructure is your own bill, not a second layer from us

DeltaForge is self-hosted, so the host VM is on your cloud bill the same way any other workload is. What DeltaForge does not do is add a managed-cluster charge on top: a 5-second query is metered as 5 DFCU-seconds, not as 10 minutes of cluster uptime. There are no warehouse credits to pre-purchase, no capacity SKUs to reserve, and no per-terabyte scan fees to forecast.

Common questions

No. Every plan includes the full platform: SQL engine, graph, geospatial, healthcare formats, connectors, and pipelines. Plans differ only by capacity, included DFCU, and support level.
Yes. The ODBC and ADBC drivers ship on every plan, including the free Community tier. Power BI, Excel, Tableau, DBeaver, and any other ODBC-compatible tool can connect to a Community node without a paid license. There is no "BI connectivity" add-on and no paid tier required to access the drivers. The distinction between plans is compute capacity and support level, not which features are unlocked.
Yes. The Community license is designed for that. Validate your workload first, then move to a paid tier when usage justifies it. No data migration steps required.
A DeltaForge Compute Unit measures query and pipeline execution using the formula: DFCU = (wall_clock_seconds × cores) / 3600. Paid plans include a monthly DFCU allowance. Community is limited to 50 DFCU per day.
Each paid plan includes a monthly DFCU allowance. If you exceed it, you're charged per DFCU at the rate shown on your plan. Track consumption from your usage dashboard before charges accumulate.

No. DeltaForge is commercial software that you install and operate yourself, in your cloud, on-premises, or air-gapped. Your data stays in open formats: tables are standard Delta Lake and Apache Iceberg, readable by any compatible tool, so there is no lock-in to the engine.
Yes. Standard and Professional licenses can be purchased instantly through the console: no sales call, no procurement cycle. Use the free Community tier first if you'd like to evaluate before paying.
